The 2008 Market is well underway. Many of the past vendors have returned and a few new ones have joined. Good to see both new and familiar faces. A long time fixture of the market, wood turning artist, Martin Thorne is no longer a vendor, but is still a part of the market atmoshpere. He is still operating from his studio at the Squamish Estuary's edge located at 37791 Third Ave. Here is where you will find him http://idnt1.capcollege.bc.ca/id/student/97-98/studentsites/Ross/
Market started May long weekend this year and will continue, for a lengthened season, to October 11th. Last years Market ended at the beginning of September and the additional days at the end of this season will provide added access to local farm produce.
As well as my participation as a vendor at the MArket, I am also a part of Visuals, Squamish Valley Artists group. Visuals, http://www.squamishart.com/ will be hosting art events throughout the summer, in the building located in the park right next door to the Market's location. The dates for the ART in the PARK events are Saturday, June 28, Tuesday, July 1 and Saturday, August 2. It adds an extra element of interest to a Saturday afternoon. Another Visuals sponsered event will be the anual ART WALK Open Studio and Gallery Tour on September 20/21st weekend. More information on this will follow.

Farmer's Market
The Squamish Farmer's Market is on it's way. Opening day was May 19th and although it began the season with a downpour, the clouds broke, and there was a large local turnout, bringing with it lots of excitement and support.
The weather improved for the second Saturday and local attendance remained high. It was also a good feeling to see many visitors here for the high school gradutation celebrations.
